This site is not a tourist guide and is not affiliated with Samsø Municipality. It's a set of curated experiences — context, stories and local perspectives no official guide gives you. Everything is written and photographed by one person who knows the island from the inside.

Some of the content is thoroughly documented; some rests on local tradition and personal judgement. Where there's uncertainty, we say so honestly. You're invited to experience it, not to accept it uncritically.

The ferry

Samsø has two ferry connections: Hou–Sælvig (1 hour) and Kalundborg–Ballen (1½ hours). Book ahead in summer.

Getting around

Car, bicycle or e-bike. The island is 28 km long and 7 km wide. E-bikes can be rented at both ferry harbours. A local bus runs, but it doesn't reach the small places this site is about.

Season

May–September for open restaurants and long evenings. April and October for empty beaches and a truly quiet Samsø. Winter for those who want the island entirely to themselves.
